- Geotechnical investigation
- Drilling boreholes and temporary anchor holes
- Rock inspection and stabilisation
- Soil testing
Project challenges
The 12-storey building was constructed over four basement levels and required excavations to a maximum depth of approximately 23m. The Transgrid tunnel and a possible future twin railway tunnel were major constraints.
Our Solutions
JK Geotechnics completed two-dimensional finite element modelling to assess the tunnels’ impact. We completed a comprehensive geotechnical investigation and during the construction phase we assisted with installing shoring piles, drilling temporary ground anchor holes and stress testing temporary ground anchors. We also carried out regular inspections of rock excavation faces and proposed rock-face stabilisation measures.
JK Environment completed soil and groundwater testing.
